Into the Deep Freeze - 12/11/2010

DSC01629

At this time of year, heading into the deep cold of an Arctic winter, an adventurous person’s thoughts turn to sunny days, no breakdowns with the truck, a little tug on the fishing line, the cold bitterness of a good beer after a long day driving, the amazing difference a little shade and a small breeze make on a blistering sunny day and of waking up with your best friend sleeping beside you.  I’ve been lucky enough to have all those experiences, many more than once.  It seems that this time of year, when all the summer chores are done, garden’s put away, 10 cords of wood are cut, split and stacked, the dog is sleeping at your feet and the fire is warming your toes you can finally put some real perspective on your year.  It helps to get your priorities straight... and plan your trips for next year!

Just some thoughts on a cold winter’s night in our beautiful, great white north.

‘Til next time...
